The visiting team included Rodrigo Riquelme, Team Leader and Sector Lead Specialist; Soledad Villaroel, Water and Sanitation Specialist; and Orchel Usher, Operations Associate. They were given a comprehensive tour of the site and an overview of the updated plans for the landfill’s expansion, which will significantly enhance waste management capabilities in Belize.

Joining the IDB team was Aldo Cancino, interim Director; Kenneth Williams, Senior Solid Waste Officer; Tyronne Chimilio, Public Relations Officer; Karlo Medina, Landfill Manager and Gian Tech, Health and Safety Officer all of the Belize Solid Waste Management Authority. Including Mr. Michelle Lambertini and Dimitri Abbado of HYDEA Consulting Firm.

Discussions during the visit highlighted the progress made and the vision for future developments that align with Authority’s sustainability goals. This collaborative effort underscores the shared commitment to environmental protection ensuring we continue to improve our waste management system in Belize.
